September 18th, 2011: Homework 3 gets colored ¶

Hi there, how’s it going? It has been a while… again… I know. Even though it was summer vacation, I’ve been very busy. Applying for universities, searching for a place to live, get used to new cities… with success. I’ll be a mathematics student of Heidelberg University starting this semester.
Remember Homework 3? Yeah, I know some of you believed this project was dead… (The last blog post update was ages ago.) However, I’m happy to inform you that it is not.
I’ve added a major feature and made some minor changes to the settings panel and the edit panel.

December 6th, 2010: Animating in C# without WPF ¶

One of the fundamental Metro Interface principles is motion. The use of animation is to let the user know where your application is going. It helps the user understand the hierarchy of your application and foreshadow what’s coming.
In Homework, instead of showing another dialogue to let the user edit tasks as in previous versions, I’ve decided to slide in the edit form and slide it out when the user is finished.
Animations with WPF is super easy, but as Homework is not a WPF application, I have to animate controls manually. With a Timer. So I wrote a class which will make animating nearly as easy as under WPF.

December 2nd, 2010: Rewriting Homework ¶

For those who ask themselves: Where did the simple task manager go, which you could download on the old website? This question is justified. Well, I plan to rewrite the whole software and publish a more functional, more useful, more productive and simpler… erm… simplest possible version of Homework. Version 3. It will be free to download, of course, just like all the other apps.
I’ve already made some plans, as well as an mockup. It might look different than before, but I can promise that it stays as simple as it always had been.
You can already notice that the new icon is slightly brighter than the old one. See more of the first UI sketch and other plans after the jump.
